Reason For This Recall

Irbit Motorworks has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain model year 2012-2017 Ural Gear-up, Patrol (PT), Tourist (T), cT and Retro motorcycles with sidecars. The wheel spokes may not have been tightened properly. This may result in damaged rims or a wheel lock-up, which can increase the risk of a crash.

What We Will Do

All Ural sidecar motorcycles manufactured between 9/15/2011 and 10/3/2017 will be recalled for the replacement of aluminum rims by the servicing dealer using new inventory provided by Irbit Motorworks. This excludes wheel rims previously replaced by warranty and/or under NHTSA Recall No. 13V-507.

Remedy Schedule

Ural Motorcycle dealers will be completing repairs based on the following schedule:

Q4-2022: Irbit Motorworks will be accepting recall claims for 2012-2013 model years only.

Q1-2023: Irbit Motorworks will be accepting recall claims for 2014-2015 model years only.

Q2-2023: Irbit Motorworks will be accepting recall claims for 2016-2017 model years only.

What You Should Do

Please contact your nearest Ural dealer and/or repair facility to schedule a service appointment. You may be asked to provide your VIN (vehicle identification number) for confirmation of recall. The labor time for this repair can vary and you may be asked by your dealer to leave the motorcycle for the free repair. Your Ural dealer is best equipped to obtain parts and provide service to ensure that your vehicle is corrected as promptly as possible. If, however, you take your vehicle to your dealer on the agreed service date, and they do not remedy this condition on that date or within three (3) days, we recommend you contact Ural customer service by calling 1-425-702-8484.

After contacting your dealer and Ural customer service, if you are still not able to have the safety defect remedied without charge and within a reasonable time, you may wish to write the Administer, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1200 New Jersey Avenue S.E. , Washington, DC 20590or call 1-888-327-4236 (TTY; 1-800-424-9153) or go to http://www.safercar.gov

If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by calling Ural Customer Service at 1-425-702-8484. Federal Law requires any lesser who receives a notification of determination of a safety related defect or noncompliance pertaining to any leased motor vehicle shall send the notice to the lessee within 10 days.
