That’s exactly what Brian Poulter, an award-winning photographer, educator and professor of journalism at Eastern Illinois University, is doing. He’s traveling the National Road with his Ural and shooting photos and video with an iPhone.
Previously, Brian has done photo projects on the Oregon Trail, the Mississippi River, and Northwest Canada and Alaska.

A thought I have abut finding good cross country routes more compatible with the Ural’s attributes. The Adventure Cycling Association in the US has many routes across the US that are designed for the touring bicyclist. Since they try to route you off as many busy and high speed roads as possible they would also be good for Urals as well. They also list campsites and other stops. You do not have to be a member to purchase these guides.
